Cash-at-Date

← All Terms

Cash-at-Date is the probability that a defined share of a book resolves by a given date. It restates realization planning as a distribution of when cash arrives, not a hope pinned to one date.

A treasury function planning against a median is planning against a figure that half of the matters will miss. Cash-at-Date answers a more useful question: by the end of this period, what is the chance that at least this much of the book has resolved.

It is computed from the duration distributions of the matters in the book, conditioned on their ages and checkpoints, and is updated when evidence arrives.

Cash-at-Date is about resolution, which is not the same as cash collected. Collection runs on its own clock after legal resolution.
