Recoverable Time

← All Terms

Recoverable time is the portion of expected delay that feasible action could remove without damaging the position. It is defined so it can be measured, and it is reported only where intervention histories and outcomes exist to support it.

Duration has structural parts, such as a court's calendar, and recoverable parts, such as counsel responsiveness, settlement posture review and enforcement preparation that starts early. Only the second kind responds to management.

Estimating it requires data on what interventions were tried and what followed, which public records do not contain. Without that evidence, no figure is published, because a number without a basis is the practice the measure is meant to replace.

Recoverable time is not a promise that delay can be cut. It sizes the part that might respond to action.
