Disposition

The specific, defined resolution class a matter concludes with, dismissal, settlement, judgment for the claimant, judgment for the defense, within a regulated market's own outcome taxonomy. The disposition taxonomy differs across regulated markets even where the underlying subject matter looks similar.

A disposition is the specific, named state in which a matter concludes, drawn from the finite, defined set of possible outcomes that a given regulated market's procedural regime permits. Federal district court litigation, a specific administrative agency's enforcement process, and a specific arbitration regime each define their own disposition taxonomy, and the taxonomies do not transfer cleanly across regimes even when the underlying dispute subject matter looks similar from the outside; a wage dispute resolved through a federal court and a wage dispute resolved through a state labor agency's administrative process carry genuinely different disposition sets. A defined disposition taxonomy is one of the three structural properties that make a body of matters modelable as regulated outcomes in the first place, alongside historical ground truth and a bounded resolution horizon, because a model needs a finite, enumerable target to predict against rather than an open-ended range of possible results. This platform's disposition mapping is also where several of its most consequential governance decisions live: the permanent retirement of any model deriving a binary win or loss label from a disposition field that does not reliably support that inference is a disposition-taxonomy decision, not a modeling detail, and it reflects a data limitation the platform treats as fixed rather than as a target for future correction.
