Regulated Market

A body of matters resolved under one procedural and regulatory regime, with its own defined outcome taxonomy, timeline structure, and recordkeeping conventions, the correct analytical unit for organizing outcome intelligence in place of a practice-area or industry-vertical label a market map might use.

A regulated market is a body of matters resolved under a single procedural and regulatory regime, federal district court litigation, a specific administrative agency's enforcement process, a specific arbitration regime, each carrying its own defined set of possible dispositions, its own typical timeline structure, and its own recordkeeping conventions that determine what evidence about resolutions is actually available to build a model from. This platform treats the regulated market, rather than practice area or industry vertical, as the correct unit for organizing outcome intelligence, because two matters sharing an identical practice-area label but resolved under different regulatory regimes, a wage dispute in federal court and a wage dispute before a state labor agency, can behave less like each other than two matters in different practice areas resolved under the same regime. A model has to be built and validated within a regulated market's own boundary, since a base rate learned within one regime does not transfer cleanly to another, and expanding into a new regulated market, a new agency, a new jurisdiction's court system, requires its own outcome taxonomy and validation built from a comparable starting point, regardless of how mature the institution's modeling practice looks in the regimes it already covers.
